Yearly Wrap Up

Hey everyone, I know it’s been a while since I did a blog post, but I’m back for the end of the year. This year, a brilliant idea came to me when I was considering a new blog post and a wrap up of the year. That idea began to grow, and ended up turning into exactly what I planned. And after listing events from the year, and compiling them into verses, I present to you a very special Yearly Wrap Up Song.

(Quick Disclaimer: this isn’t in the completely accurate structure of the original, and trust me I tried, but I guess you could think of it as an extended version or cover of some sort. Also make sure to read to the end.)

(In the style of Billy Joel’s ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’)

(Intro – you’ll have to imagine this part, or even listen to a karaoke version of the original to get into the groove)

Zuckerberg testifies,

Federer’s eyes are on the prize

Feminists, Identity,

Bohemian Rhapsody.

Trump and Kim Jong Un talk,

US Midterms, Border Wall,

Doctor Who, Me Too,

Banksy, Russia, Kavanaugh.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

It was a crazy year,

But now it’s out of here.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

And now it’s on from here,

To another year.

World Cup, France win

Turnbull’s out, ScoMo’s in,

Macron, Yellow Vests,

Elon Musk, SpaceX.

Stan Lee, Avengers Three, Israeli Embassy,

Turnbull Withdraws, Wentworth Falls, Government in minority.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

It was a crazy year,

But now it’s out of here.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

And now it’s on from here,

To another year.

Theresa May’s Brexit deal

Fails to gain appeal,

No confidence vote,

Keeps Mrs May afloat.

The kids go on a Climate Strike,

Fans save Brooklyn Nine-Nine,

Usain Bolt, Total Eclipse,

Marvel shows canned by Netflix.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

It was a crazy year,

But now it’s out of here.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

And now it’s on from here,

To another year.

Aretha, Bush, Avicii,

Rescuers save Thai Soccer Team,

Black Panther, John McCain,

Government shutdown again.

PewDiePie and T-Series,

Ross Cameron, ABC,

YouTube Rewind is a flop,

Stefanovic gets the chop.

Family Feud gets the axe,

Denyer ends up on Hard Chat,

Tom Gleeson plans a venture,

Gets the Gold Logie for Denyer.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

It was a crazy year,

But now it’s out of here.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

And now it’s on from here,

To another year.

Royal Wedding, UN,

Paul McCartney’s back again,

Adani, Merkel Retires,

Tsunami, Floods, Wildfires.

Fortnite, Tide Pods, Baby Shark,

Walmart Kid, Toys R Us

Tik Tok, Kiki, Prince Louis,

Laurel or Yanny?

It’s been an interesting year,

Lots happened but we’re still here,

And now it’s time to get keen

To move on to twenty nineteen.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

It was a crazy year,

But now it’s out of here.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

But now that it is gone,

A new year comes along, along, along, along

We made it through twenty eighteen,

It was a crazy year,

But now it’s out of here.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

And now it’s on from here,

To another year.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

It was a crazy year,

But now it’s out of here.

We made it through twenty eighteen,

And now it’s on from here,

To another year.

End

And that’s the song. Thanks for reading, and for another great year on the Outlook. I’ll be back with more next year (and there may be a legitimate music inclusive version of this specific song), and hopefully I’ll be back to posting a little more regularly. Until then, make sure to continue to like, follow/subscribe (it’s free!), share etc. you know the rest, and a Happy New Year to all. Hope you all have a great 2019.
